BEIJING, Dec. 19 (Xinhua) -- The National Center of the Performing Arts, a landmark theater located in the heart of Beijing, on Monday evening received the president of Poland.

Upon his arrival in Beijing, Polish President Bronislaw Komorowski and Chinese State Councilor Liu Yandong attended a performance by Polish musicians with the Warsaw Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra and renowned Chinese pianist Lang Lang.

Cultural exchanges play a very important role in Polish-Chinese ties, and Poland is ready to enhance people-to-people exchanges and cultural cooperation with China, Komorowski told Liu at a brief meeting prior to the concert.

Liu hailed the sound development of bilateral relations, noting the two countries scored achievements in areas such as technological, cultural and educational cooperation.

She said China is willing to cement cultural cooperation with Poland as part of its efforts to promote dialogue and mutual learning among different cultures in the world and facilitate the harmonious co-existence and common development of all countries.

Attending the concert was the first official activity during Komorowski's stay in Beijing, and the president will meet with Chinese leaders in the coming days.

He traveled to Beijing Monday afternoon to continue his five-day state visit after two days in China's financial hub of Shanghai.
